Kinja'd!!!

Spotted this Rolls Royce the other day while I was out running errands.
Seemed to me to be in really great shape.
I've never been a huge fan of them, but I can certainly appreciate them.

I was gonna make a "one does not simply see a Rolls Royce in the Wild" meme but imgur is broken right now.

I thought all those Celica verts died to rust in the late 90s.

There's very few left, and even fewer in decent, workable shape.

Mine's in pretty good shape for its age (and just barely clicked over 100k original miles last month), and it's a hellova fun car.

It's got its rough edges (because 30 year old Utah car), but it's a far cry away from being beyond hope.

Ideally I'd like to restore it (and I have a local resource that specializes in classic Japanese cars), but it's the fact that it'll cost me an arm and a leg right now that keeps me from pulling the pin. So for the time being I'm just maintaining it and making sure it doesn't go downhill as much as possible.

Ahh, I didn't even realize that was yours.

My best friend in high school had one just like that (except I think his top was black...could be wrong) that he managed to kill in stereotypical high school kid fashion. I can't recall ever seeing one since. Would have been around 95-97ish time frame. I have good memories of them.

I believe they all came with black tops in '85, however I've read somewhere that there were a few that came with a white top (I dunno if I trust this source or not). At any rate, I know for a fact the current top is the second top so it very well could have come with a black one. I've seen pics of identical cars with the black top and I rather like the white top.

As I try to track down potential parts cars (for replacement top parts, planning for the future hehe), I've been seeing how rare they are. Depending on the source, they made roughly 4200 of them in 1985 (even fewer in 1984, I think they only made 450), so they were pretty rare to begin with.

It's singular enough around these parts that I had another Opponaut honk and waive (At least I assume they were another Oppo, I have no idea who, but they had an one of the Oppo stickers so I'm just guessing they recognized the car from when I was more active round these parts last year).

I love it to death. It's not super fast by any stretch of the term, but it handles very well for its age, is a lot of fun to drive, and super simple to work on. It's true that there's other cars I'd give this one up for, but that list is pretty short.
